Whilst I am a big believer that multimedia does benefit children I also believe there is a limit. As practitioners to be, we shouldn’t be using technology for technology’s sake. Although multimedia and multimodality have evident issue as well as benefits, when it comes to the engagement of students it is definitely a beneficial pedagogical development.

For teachers, this is the most significant argument that has arisen. Having the balance and variation of pedagogical methods and techniques ensures that the student is not put at a disadvantage as the individual is having the advantages from handouts, taking notes and multimedia and multimodality methods.
ReplyDeleteIf students are completely reliant upon multimedia and multimodality technology, how are we preparing them for written or oral examinations?
I completely agree with this statement, it is a debate of the pedagogical preference of the teacher. However in answer to your question, we can never be completely reliant on technology. As I have stated to Shannon, there is always going to be a need for paper based learning whilst exams are still written.
